Don R. MacMannis, Ph.D. (a.k.a "Dr. Mac") is a psychologist and Clinical Director of the Family Therapy Institute. His practice includes work with children, families and couples, with a specialization in parenting kids ages two to twelve. In addition to lectures on a variety of topics related to families and social/emotional development, he has provided post-graduate training to hundreds of other therapists. His clinical work can best be described as highly integrative and multi-modal.

Don has a Bachelor's degree from Dartmouth, a Masters in School-Child Psychology from U. of Virginia, and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Alliant University. A former President of the Santa Barbara Area Psychological Association, he has taught courses at Westmont College and Antioch University in the areas of developmental, behavioral, and cognitive psychology.

With the goal of public education around psychological issues, Don is music director and a songwriter for the PBS hit, Jay Jay the Jet Plane. He has been interviewed by numerous radio programs, Time Magazine, Inside Edition, Time for Kids, AOL, and At Home-Live. Co-producing a number of songs with multiple Grammy winner Christopher Cross, his latest creative project, Ready to Rock Kids, is a series of multiple award-winning CDs of songs and activities for children 3-9 years old.
